On May 3, 2025, Hunt County voters will be asked to vote for or against a $29.3 million bond for Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville to expand its facilities and patient care capacity.
The bond is needed for the hospital to have the infrastructure to provide a range of medical care services to a rapidly growing population.
Did you know? 25,000 people moved to Hunt County between 2005 and 2025. We’ll add that same amount again in just the next five years!
What the Bond Covers
Having local access to oncology care is highly valued and needed in our community. The number of patients seeking radiation treatment at at the Lou and Jack Finney Cancer Center increased 16 percent between 2023 and 2024. That number will only keep growing as the county’s population increases.
A new LINAC will:
- Support more patients being seen each day. With the upgraded LINAC, at least 18 more patient appointments a day can be added.
- Reduce wait times for new patients from diagnosis to treatment initiation.
- Meet the demand for Stereotactic Radiation Therapy (SRT) technology to stay up to date with the current standard of cancer care.
Emergency department use at the Greenville hospital is increasing right along with the region’s population growth. More beds will mean the hospital can provide emergent and trauma care more quickly for more people.
The hospital performed 12 percent more surgeries between 2021 and 2024. Keeping up with the need for surgeries from appendectomies and hysterectomies to joint replacements and broken bone repairs requires the addition of beds to provide post-surgical care.
Need in our community for procedures at the cardiac catheterization lab increased 23 percent between 2020 and 2024. That number will increase with our population growth.
