For Sherry and Robert Hall, longtime Greenville residents and owners of Prairie Coffee Company and other local-area real estate, Hunt Regional Medical Center has been more than a lifeline during some of life’s most challenging moments and a partner in their journey as small business owners. Their story is a testament to how accessible, high-quality healthcare strengthens families, businesses, and the entire Hunt County community.
From Diagnosis to Remission: The Role of Local Care
Sherry’s experience with breast cancer began with a screening mammogram at Hunt Regional Medical Center. What might have been a routine appointment turned into a life-changing moment.
“The mammogram caught my cancer early, and the exceptional doctors here in Greenville took my case and took care of me,” Sherry said.
She underwent extensive advanced radiation therapy at Texas Oncology, affiliated with Hunt Regional Medical Center, in Greenville, which made all the difference in her ability to focus on recovery.
“Driving 50 miles every day for treatment isn’t realistic for most people,” she explained. “Having access to these services right here in my community meant I could concentrate on healing without the added stress of long commutes.”
Now 10 years in remission, Sherry reflects on how Hunt Regional Medical Center supported her recovery, even beyond her initial treatment.
“As a cancer survivor, I’ve also benefited from the hospital’s fitness and physical therapy programs, which have been crucial to my post-treatment recovery. I’m so grateful for everything they provided.”
A Family and a Community Supported by Care
The Halls have seen firsthand how having local healthcare impacts not just individual patients but the broader community as well.
“Knowing that we have excellent emergency and chronic care services available here gives us peace of mind — not just for ourselves but also for our employees and customers,” said Robert.
The Halls know that a strong healthcare infrastructure is essential for their business and their town.
“When our employees can quickly access the care they need, it minimizes disruptions to our business and ensures they’re able to stay healthy and productive,” Robert explained.
Compassionate Care Close to Home
One of the things the Halls value most about Hunt Regional Medical Center is its culture of compassion.
“We’ve built relationships with the doctors, nurses, and staff over the years,” Robert said. “These aren’t just people doing a job — they’re our neighbors, our friends, and the people we see at community events. That personal connection makes all the difference.”
“It’s comforting to walk into the hospital and see familiar faces. It’s that small-town feeling of being more than just a number,” added Sherry.
Investing in the Future of Hunt County
As Greenville and Hunt County continue to grow, the Halls see the need to invest in healthcare infrastructure as a priority for the community.
“If we want our community to thrive, we have to support the hospital’s growth,” Robert said. “It’s not just about today’s needs — it’s about preparing for the future and ensuring that as more people move here, we have the services to care for them.”
Sherry added, “There’s no reason we should have to drive to Dallas for great care. Hunt Regional is proof that we can have everything we need right here if we’re willing to invest in it.”
A Shared Vision for a Healthy Community
For Sherry and Robert Hall, Hunt Regional Medical Cener is an essential part of their lives, their business, and their vision for Greenville’s future.
“We’ve experienced firsthand how this hospital changes lives,” said Sherry. “Whether it’s catching my cancer early, providing life-saving emergency care, or offering the services people need to recover and thrive, Hunt Regional is at the heart of this community.”
“This hospital isn’t just a building — it’s a reflection of who we are as a community,” Robert said. “By supporting its growth, we’re ensuring a healthier, stronger future for everyone in Hunt County.”
